College Soccer News - National Team of the Week - Week Ending August 26, 2018

Andre Shinyashiki - Senior - Forward - Denver Shinyashiki scored three times in the first twenty-six minutes in Denver's season opening 4-0 win over Monmouth.  He also contriubted the assist on teammate Stefan DeLeone's goal.  Moshe Perez assisted on Shinyashiki's first goal. Dylan Keeney and Perez assisted on the second and Tosh Samkange contributed the helper on the third. 
Matt Puig - Sophomore - Forward - New Mexico  Puig scored twice and provided the assist on Antoine Vial's goal to help propel the Lobos past Seattle 4-2. Puig's first score was from within the box with a double assist from Tom Smart and Omar Grey.  His second score came after he controlled a rebound in the box and decisively directed it into the back of the frame. New Mexico has a big test coming up when they host Washington on Monday at 7 p.m. 
David Egbo - Sophomore - Forward - Akron  Egbo came up big for Akron in a tough season opening 2-2 tie with Butler.  He was an active part of the Akron attack scoring both of the Zips goals. His first score came from within the box when he redirected a pass from Joe Karb into the back of the net.  Egbo's second goal came out of a penalty kick. Akron is unbeaten at home in their last eighteen contests. The Zips will host a hungry North Carolina State team on Monday at 7 p.m. 
Camden Holbrook - Freshman - Forward - Appalachian State Holbrook, the 2017 North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year,  became the first Mountaineer since 2009 to net a hat trick when he put three in the back of the net to help power App. State past Jacksonville 3-2. He also scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Appalachian States 2-0 win over North Florida. The Mountaineers begin the season with two victories for the first time since 2012.    
Max Todd - Senior - Forward - UIC  Todd decisively placed a shot into the top corner of the frame from eighteen yards out after receiving a pass from Jesus Perez to give the Flames the edge they needed to top Campbell 2-1. He also scored out of a free kick and out of a counter attack with an assist from Oscar Gonzalez to play a key role in UIC's 3-0 win over Providence. The Flames travel to Des Moines on Friday to tangle with Drake.  
Janos Loebe - Senior - Midfielder - Fordham  Loebe scored what proved to be the game-winning goal from the top of the box after receiving a pass from Jack Sluys to help Fordham top Holy Cross 2-1. Loebe also contriubted the assist out of a free kick on teammate Sameer Fathazada's goal.  Loebe and his Fordham teammates face a difficult challenge when they travel to face the University of Wisconsin on Saturday, September 1.  
Matt Hundley - Freshman - Midfielder - UCLA Hundley made an immediate impact in his first collegiate contest.  He made a nice move off the dribble in the box and sent a left footed shot into the far right post to open the scoring in UCLA's 4-0 on the road win over Coastal Carolina.  He also sent a picture perfect shot into the top right corner of the goal out of a free kick to net UCLA's second goal of the evening.  Hundley also assisted on teammate Mohammed Kamara's goal.  UCLA will host San Diego on Tuesday.   
Tim Oberg - Senior - Midfielder - Colgate Oberg was a key part of a solid Colgate defense that included Will Stroud, Aram Ouligian, and Christian Clarke and goalkeeper Jacob Harris that shutout Pitt 1-0 in the Raider's season opening contest. Senior forward Freddy Jonsson contributed the game-winning goal for the Raiders.  Colgate hosts Albany on Monday in what should be a very competitive contest. 
Daniele Proch - Junior - Midfielder - Duke   Proch skillfully placed a ball inside the near post after receiving a long pass from teammate Brandon Williamson in Duke's 3-1 win over FIU.  He also contriubted two goals including the game-winning score in overtime to give the Blue Devils the edge they needed to top Vermont 3-2 in the John Rennie Nike Invitational.  Duke will travel west to face San Diego on Friday, August 31.  
Joey Parish - Redshirt Junior - Midfielder - Washington Parish made good things happen for Washington in their 2-0 season opening win over Maryland.  He contributed the helper on the goals scored by Scott Menzies and Kyle Coffee.  Washington head coach Jamie Clark summed it up when he stated, "Wherever we play him, he finds a way to impact the game."  Washington now takes to the road for challenging contests against New Mexico and Denver.  
Callum Montgomery - Senior - Defender - Charlotte Montgomery was an integral part of a Charlotte defense that held FGCU to one shot in the 49ers season opening 1-0 win.  Redshirt junior Maclean Holbrook contributed the game-winning goal for Charlotte.  Charlotte head coach Kevin Langan stated, "We know that if we can keep clean sheets and limit our opponents to a few looks and be organized on set pieces then we just need one or two goals to win." 
Wallis Lapsley - Redshirt Junior - Goalkeeper - UC Davis Lapsley anchored a stout Aggie defense that didn't allow a goal in two contests over the weekend.  UC Davis opened the season on the road with a 1-0 win over Omaha and a 0-0 tie with Creighton. The biology major made the plays between the pipes that he needed to make.  Lapsley had three saves during the contest with Omaha and six in the match with Creighton.  UC Davis will seek to keep the momentum going when they return home to host San Jose State on Friday, August 31.  
Cooper Clark - Sophomore - Goalkeeper - Tulsa   Clark had a big weekend between the pipes for the Golden Hurricane. He had a six save evening in goal in Tulsa's season opening 2-1 win over a very good Michigan team and five saves in the Golden Hurricane's 0-0  tie with highly regarded Michigan State.  It was a gutsy season opening on the road performance for Clark and his Tulsa teammates.  The Golden Hurricane now return home to tange with UNLV on Friday, August 31.
