College Soccer News - National Team of the Week - Week Ending October 15, 2017

Diego Campos - Senior - Forward - Clemson Campos, who hails from San Jose, Costa Rica, is a prime timer. The Tiger forward powered the Clemson attack with a three goal evening in a 4-1 win on the road over a good Duke team. His first goal was a well placed shot from twelve yards out after receiving a cross from Oliver Shannon. His second goal was a strike into the lower left corner of the frame with a double assist from Alexander Hemmingsen and Jason Wright. Campos' third goal was a put back off a deflection from teammate Wright's shot. 
Jon Bakero - Senior - Forward - Wake Forest Bakero is an impact player. He converted a penalty kick and drove a header into the back of the net with an assist from Luis Argudo and contributed an assist in Wake Forest's goal-a-rama 8-0 win over Longwood. Bakero followed that up with a two goal performance to help the Demon Deacons top Virginia Tech 3-0. His first goal against the Hokies was a blast from twenty yards out. His second score was placed into the right side of the frame from the top of the box. Wake Forest has now won ten straight to improve to 13-1-0 with a 6-0-0 mark in ACC action.  
Mauro Cichero - Senior - Forward - SMU Cichero is an explosive finisher. He scored twice within a span of two minutes to lead the Mustangs past Northeastern 6-0.  He also came up big for SMU when he found the back of the net in the 103rd minute of play from twenty-five yards out with a double assist from teammates Talen Maples and Colten Habecker to give the Mustangs the edge they needed to slip past Memphis 1-0. SMU improves to 10-2-0 overall with a 3-1-0 mark in American Athletic Conference competition. 
Ricky Lopez-Espin - Senior - Forward - Creighton Lopez-Espin contributed a goal in Creighton's 6-1 thumping of Drake.  He also found the back of the net twice as a potent Creighton attack toped Xavier 4-1. Lopez-Espin has scored nine goals to date and contributed two helpers. Creighton gains momentum and improves to 8-4-1 overall with a 2-2-1 record in Big East play. 
Eryk Williamson - Junior - Midfielder - Maryland Williamson lit up the back of the net in the second half of play scoring three times to lead the Terps to a 5-4 win over Wisconsin. Jake Rozhansky contriubted the assist on Williamson's first goal. His second goal was a picture perfect chip shot from twenty-five yards out. The third goal came after a nice pass from Amar Sejdic and a one on one move in the box that created the space Williamson needed to slot the ball into the back of the frame.  
Jose Carrera-Garcia - RS Senior - Midfielder - California Carrera-Garcia contributed the helper on the goals scored by teammates Samuel Ebstein and Simon Lekressner in California's 2-0 win over Oregon State.  He also scored the gam-winning goal out of a free kick from just outside the box to give the Golden Bears the edge they needed to upset Washington 2-1. California improves to 9-3-0 with a 4-1-0 mark in Pac-12 play. 
Daniel Trejo - Freshman - Forward - CSUN Trejo skillfully chested and then sent a shot into the back of the net after receiving a ball from Jumoke Hutton to give the Matadors a 1-0 lead over UC Irvine. He also scored from just outside the box to play a key role in CSUN's 3-2 win over the Anteaters. Trejo has scored a total of six goals to date. The Matadors also tied Cal State Fulerton 0-0 earlier in the week to stand at 7-6-2 overall with a 2-2-2 mark in a closely contested Big West Conference race. 
Martin Melchor - Senior - Midfielder - Coastal Carolina  Melchor was hot from the get-go scoring the first of his three goals in Coastal Carolina's 5-2 upset win over Old Dominion a little over a minute into the contest. His second goal was a blast from twenty yards out.  Melchor's third goal came out of a breakaway with Frantzdy Pierrot setting up the score. The Chanticleers up their record to 6-6-0.  
Skye Harter - RS Sophomore - Midfielder - Akron  Harter took advantage of a defensive miscue fifty-two seconds into Akron's contest with Cleveland State to net his first goal of the year.  The Zips went on to top the Vikings 2-0. Halter followed that contest up with a three assist evening to help Akron top SIU Edwardsville 3-1. Akron rebounded  after a 1-0 loss to Western Michigan last week to pick up two wins to improve to 8-3-1 with a 1-1-1 mark in MAC play. 
Chase Rhode - Senior - Defender - UC Davis  Rhode was part of a rock solid and well organized Aggie defense that shutout UC Santa Barbara 3-0 and Sacramento State 2-0 in Big West Conference play. UC Davis improves to 7-6-2 overall with a 4-1-1 mark in conference play.  
Tomas Hilliard-Arce - Senior - Defender - Stanford The Cardinal center back is a competitor who contributed on both sides of the ball for Stanford in their 1-1 tie with Washington and 1-0 win over Oregon State. Hilliard-Arce assisted on Drew Skundrich's goal in the contest with Washington and his header proved to be the game-winning goal in Stanford's 1-0 win over Oregon State. The Cardinal improve to 10-2-1 overall with a 4-0-1 mark in Pac-12 action.  
Paul Marie - Senior - Defender - FIU Marie netted FIU's first goal after receiving a cross from Santiago Patino in their come from behind 4-3 win over FGCU.  He also scored twice and assited on teammate Jordan Machado's goal in FIU's impressive 5-2 on the road win over South Carolina. The Panthers improve to 8-0-3 overall with a 4-0-1 mark in CUSA play.  
Trey Muse - Freshman - Goalkeeper - Indiana Muse has been taking care of business between the pipes for a tenacious Indiana defense that has recorded eight straight shutouts with a total of twelve to date. He had a career high six stop evening to help the Hoosiers shutout Kentucky 2-0. Timmy Mehl and Rashad Hyacenth contributed the goals. Indiana also shutout Ohio State 2-0 with freshman Mason Toye netting both scores. The Hoosiers continue to roll with a 12-0-2 overall record and a 4-0-2 mark in Big Ten play.
